Victorian bushfire appeal, Australia

Just a short post to let everyone know that I'll be donating all of the proceeds from my online sales to the bushfire appeal. I'll be donating to the RSPCA, but if someone wants their money to go somewhere else in particular, contact me after buying and I'd be happy to.

As time of writing this, 181 people are dead, 1800 homes lost and 7000 homeless. Over one million animals have been killed. Canberra, where I live, was hit by bushfires into the suburbs in 2003, so it brings back a lot of memories, and I call on anyone to do what they can. Even just spreading the word helps, just to keep it in people's minds.

Thanks everyone, and I hope my next post is a happier one. ^-^

Canberra's Got Style: Miniature Masterpieces: Origami Ornaments

Canberra's Got Style: Miniature Masterpieces: Origami Ornaments

On Monday, I met up with Emma who is a writer for Canberra's Got Style - a funky blog with all sorts of interesting and stylish happenings in Canberra. She was really fun to talk to, and I think as my first interview I was glad she was so friendly. =)

Anyway, my work has been featured on the blog, so I thought I'd share my excitement with the world. And have a look at some of the other posts too, you'd be surprised what talent is here in Canberra.

I'm back from holidays, with lots of new ideas. Now I just have to find the time to work on them!

This past weekend at Gorman House wasn't that great, so I'm currently re-assessing how often I'll be having a stall there. So far I don't make any money from this, so I can't afford to lose money. However I'm definitely on for the Handmade market in Feb, given how much fun the last one was.

The weekend wasn't a complete loss though, I spent the entire time making more leaf fans,(despite the housework piling up) and now I just have to get them onto earrings. Also have to finish a custom order, and take photos. AND start the resin on a bunch of pendants, as they take 2 weeks to dry. Hmmm, looks like I'll be busy for a while, I wish I didn't work fulltime.

experimenting!

i'm making some glass pendants with origami inside, and i decided to see how small i can go. this is where i got to tonight. (though i'm sure i can go smaller, i just need some sleep now...^-^)

i took a photo of the origami in a glass vial, on my keyboard, to illustrate the size.

my first online store

so i've been selling for a while now at local markets and such, however 2 weeks ago i finally listed some things on my etsy account. so far only a couple of sales, but hopefully it picks up as i list more things, such as the glass vial pendants from the previous post.

i'm going to fix up the banner, probably take more photos of different jewellery and make it more colourful. other than listing more things, i can't really think of any other improvements. i'm sure there are some to be made, and i'll think of them eventually. =)
